Clive will expertly guide you through his techniques for creating a fantastic work in the style of J M Turner’s “The Fighting Temeraire” The aim of the workshop is to provide you with the basic techniques for starting and completing a painting using oil paints or a combination of acrylic and oil (in that order). There will be instruction on materials and their uses, the sequences for applying paint; under painting, layering, making marks and how to manage drying times.  You will explore the use of the wonderfully rich and vibrant paints and how to get the most from a limited number of colours. Full discussion on pigments, potions, additives and mixtures will also be a feature.

This workshop is aimed at beginners and improvers           ALL MATERIALS ARE INCLUDED.

All refreshments, a deli lunch and afternoon tea and cake are included.

About the Artist

Educated at The King’s School Ely, Clive served with 9 Parachute Squadron Royal Engineers before studying fine art (painting) at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art & Design in Dundee. He qualified as a lecturer in 2006 and taught art and design in a FE college before deciding to dedicate more time to painting and printmaking while still teaching adults both privately and in community education. As a full member of the Society of Graphic Fine Art, the national society dedicated to drawing, Clive exhibits with them regularly in London. He is listed in Who’s Who in Art and Architecture and is represented by the Lawson Gallery in Cambridge.
