Two Day Course

Saturday 20th and Sunday 21st July 2019

Join Roger Dellar for this full weekend Plein Air workshop and discover his process and techniques for creating an oil painting from start to finish, whilst working outside. Harwich has a fantastic mix of marine, architectural, beach and estuary subjects right on the door step of our studios; you will have no trouble finding a scene to inspire you!

This workshop will cover what makes a successful composition, what to include and as importantly what to leave out of a picture. Roger will also share with you the ways in which he deals with the everyday practicalities of working outside. Using a limited pallet he will also teach you how to simplify colour mixing, allowing you to work faster; an invaluable skill when working plein air.

As a highly successful gallery artist Roger has a wealth of experience to share with his students, making this an exceptionally fulfilling event.

Roger is equally happy teaching beginners and experienced artists, making this workshop open to anyone who has a desire to paint.

Includes homemade lunch, refreshments and cream tea

About the Artist

Roger Dellar is a professional figurative artist who works in oils, pastels, mixed media, acrylics, and water based media. Working from his studio in Surrey, he has a keen interest in people and their behaviour, and is fascinated by the way the play of light transforms a subject; either working in the studio or plein air.

He is a member of The Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolour, The Pastel Society, and The Royal Institute of Oil Painters.  In the last couple of years Roger has become president of the prestigious The Wapping Group of painters.  He has won numerous awards and regularly exhibits in galleries in the UK, including several one man exhibitions.
