That time of year again

I know it’s a bit of a cliche, but it really does come around quicker and quicker; you know what I’m talking about! So we have our last few events for this year – all Festive themed – before we have a break. By the way we can still squeeze one or two more in this Sunday if you would like to make a Textile, Illuminated Christmas Tree wall hanging Click here for more info.
Then we hibernate, only to re emerge revitalised once more at the beginning of February.

Something you may be interested in are the textile Christmas Wreaths pictured below. They are the ones nearest completion and are the work of my lovely Thursday Girls. I won’t divulge all the techniques used to make them, you’ll just have to wait till next year, when they will definitely have to become another festive workshop.

Sticking with the textile theme

I will be continuing my Machine Embroidery and Textile Art monthly class – 4th Friday, five sessions all day from 10.00 a.m. to 3.00 p.m. This time it will be Art Quilts, including thermofax printing, paint transfer and ice dying. The price is £150 plus some material cost; the idea being to experience lots of different materials, without a huge outlay. This course isn’t on the website as yet, but you are welcome to contact me directly if you are interested.

New year, new events

In March we have two Beginners Watercolour workshops with the very talented Susan Boddy. Beginning with the absolute basics you will learn the fundamentals of mixing paint, using different brushes and the marks they can make. Guiding you at a very comfortable pace Susan will have you attempting your own pictures on day one.

New faces to look out for in 2018

Coming up in April we have Fraser Scarfe who will be delivering an inspiring day of Atmospheric Landscapes in Interactive Acrylics. If you have never tried these paints and fancy having a go, this could be the perfect opportunity as all materials are included.
For those of you who already have reasonable drawing skills, we will be welcoming Anthony Nield, who will share with you his methods for creating beautiful Line and Wash pictures.
In a very different vein, Ailsa Lyn will be encouraging you to tear up paper and even your less successful watercolours on her Beginners Collage with Mixed Media. She’ll be with in the spring and again in the late summer; the method will be the same, but with two very different subjects.
In July you have the chance to immerse yourselves in a weekend of watercolour flowers and gardens with the very talented Julie King.
There will be more about all of these in future newsletters.

I just discovered today that the link to buy Gift Vouchers from our homepage is not working. Don’t panic though, we have our tech guy on the case and should have it fixed in a day or two. In the mean time if you need vouchers quickly just give us a call.
I know some of you have been asking about next years Textile and Craft Programme. We are just pulling it all together now, and events are being added to the website almost daily. When everything is finally in place (hopefully next week), I will email out again.

And Finally a bit of nonsense

Is it a hairy Rhino – No it’s Banksy and he’s stolen Deb Hart’s horn of tallow after today’s Willow Christmas Wreath workshop.
Thank you for taking the time to read this newsletter and don’t forget if there is anything you want to know about any of the events we offer you can always give us a call or email us.

Best wishes
Bev, Nigel and Banksy
