Bespoke Event

Last month saw our first completely bespoke event take place, led by the multi talented, Suffolk artist Lois Cordelia. Twelve enthusiastic plastic surgeons, many with no previous drawing or painting experience threw themselves into, what is arguably, one of the most challenging disciplines – portraiture. Drawing in the morning followed by painting in the afternoon, punctuated by a home cooked, Old Bank Studios lunch and rounded off with a cream tea. The day was a great success, with everyone achieving beyond their personal expectations; a valuable time to get away from the demands of work, get in touch with their creativity and catch up with colleagues in a totally different environment.
Many thanks to Niri.

Now what about those Big Names

We still have quite a few workshops to run before the end of the year, however we are well into the job of preparing for 2018. This is a bit of a mammoth task, with something in the order of 80 events to set up, but a great creative challenge in itself. The aim is to offer you a varied mix of artists, makers, media, workshops and longer courses, with some big names thrown in as well.

Kicking off the art programme will be Soraya French SWA,who will be taking participants on a two day magical tour through her mixed media world – check out her new book Contemporary Landscapes in Mixed Media, coincidentally (or not) the theme for this workshop.

Soraya is followed in March byJake Winkle, but unfortunately this date is already full. Fear not though as he returns in September to do a second workshop, for which there are still spaces available.

That’s just a very small taste of what’s happening next year, but if you visit the website you will find a lot more events already listed, with more being added all the time.

Back to the here and now
I have been very busy myself with a couple of new courses. One has just finished it’s five week run, which saw my super group of ladies design and construct a fabulous little textile journal; introducing them to new free motion machine embroidery techniques each session. The other, whilst dealing with textile projects again, has a real art and design feel about it. This has two weeks of the five remaining and I have to say I am really enjoying the energy and creativity of the group.
If this sort of thing interests you, please contact me as these courses will run again.

Oh and one last thing
It’s about now that I have to remind you that Gift Vouchers are available and can be bought from our website, or you can order over the phone. They come in various denominations and are open ended – obviously the ideal Christmas gift, why would you want to give
anything else!

Very sorry, but no Banksy news or picture this time – sad face.

All the very best
Bev and Nigel
