Create your own Mermaid or Merman (or any other simple design) panel using ceramic and glass tesserae along with a variety of recycled materials. Learn all the techniques needed to complete your own project under the guidance of experienced Mosaic Artist Anne Schwegmann-Fielding.

ALL MATERIALS INCLUDED

Mosaic is a wonderfully versatile medium.  Using a range of colours and materials, you can transform simple designs into beautiful mosaics which will last forever!

The workshop enables you to explore techniques and materials whilst making an individual piece of work. We will be working mainly with the direct method, which is sticking tiles directly to the surface. The materials available are glass and ceramic tesserae, bathroom tiles, old china, buttons, mirror and other recycled materials, all in a range of colours from subtle to vibrant.

The day will provide all the basic techniques needed to complete further and more ambitious projects at home!  There will be plenty of books to hand for design ideas, should you need them.

Personalise your work with any old bits of broken crockery or jewellery from home which you can’t bear to throw away – embed them into the mosaic and keep them forever.

Includes homemade lunch, all refreshments and afternoon tea.

What you will need to bring

Crockery, jewellery, buttons or beads that you want to incorporate

Imagination – and/or a picture of a fish (but we have lots of books)

Everything else from panels, to tiles and cutters are provided

About the Artist

Anne set up her studio in the mid 1990’s working on a series of site specific commissions across Essex Hospitals.  The use of recycled materials in her work stems from a long held passion for transforming old into new along with a concern about our disposable society.

She has appeared on numerous television programmes and created commissions for both corporate and private clients nationally and internationally.  Clients include: Google, Colchester Zoo, Channel 4 Kirstie’s Homemade Home, Gardens of Easton Lodge, Symington Building, Market Harborough and Kent History & Library Centre.
