Two Day Course
Saturday 7th and Sunday 8th October
ALL MATERIALS INCLUDED
This two day course is open to anyone wanting to discover printmaking in this most accessible form. Beginners will learn the basics of lino cut and will design and complete at least one series of prints. Those with a little more experience will be able to produce a more intricate work, with the possibility of using more than one colour. With two days you will be able to develop at your own pace with plenty of interaction with your tutor Helen.
Includes homemade lunch and refreshments both days
About the Artist
Helen creates limited edition handmade linocuts from her studio at the end of her garden. Her designs evolve from observational drawings and photos from her trips out in the countryside and along the coastline. She looks for textures in the landscape and enjoys devising ways to render them through linocut. She uses the ‘reduction method’ where one piece of lino is used for the entire print and the picture is built up through layers of ink, with more lino being carved away between each layer. Helen makes images that celebrate both the beauty of the landscape and the natural qualities of linocut.
What you will need to bring
All materials and equipment are included. Template designs are available, or you can bring along your own reference photos, magazine pictures and create your own design. Just bear in mind you will be aiming to complete a finished print in two days and you will need to simplify your images into a linocut design.
