Friday 11th September and Friday 9th October
This two afternoon workshop will introduce learners with no prior experience of machine patchwork and quilting to the craft through the end-to-end process of making of a small sampler quilt. It is desirable, but not essential, that participants have experience of using a sewing machine. This is a machine based course with little hand stitching.
Participants will make four basic blocks and turn them into a
small sampler quilt. Patchwork and quilting tools and
techniques covered will include:
• Using rotary cutting equipment
• Squaring fabric and cutting out
• Speed cutting and piecing, where appropriate
• Sewing accurate seams
• Piecing blocks – strip pieced, 4-patch, rail fence and
windmill
• Squaring blocks
• Sashing & borders
• Quilt sandwich & machine quilting
• Making and attaching a double fold mitred binding.
Includes afternoon tea and refreshments
