About the Artist

Alex was born in Africa, travelling the world before settling in England as a teenager.  Her early influences came from Rembrand and vanGogh, both steeped in drawing techniques and the use of strong tone and colour.

After training at the City and Guilds of London Art College, she became a full time, professional exhibiting painter, teacher and demonstrator.

She paints figures in their environment, as well as doing portraits and still lives in her studio.  Sea and landscapes are usually painted “en pleine air”, where the constantly changing weather is inspirational, demanding and exciting – so managing to capture the atmosphere  and intensity of the moment.
