Some experience of machine embroidery necessary.
Session 1 Friday 28th February
“Freeing it up”
An exciting and enjoyable session.
Use a vast array of fabrics, scraps and papers to create an abstract collage, cut it up and recompose. Experiment with machine embroidery to add texture and detail.
Session 2 Friday 27th March
Lino Printing
Learn to make your very own Lino cut stamps with the very talented Helen Maxfield and then print your own original designs.
Session 3 Friday 24th April
Velvet techniques
Using white velvet as a base, spray, print with your own Lino blocks) stencil and overlay to create some stunning effects.
Session 4 Friday 22nd May
“Bring it together”
Continue to work on your velvet pieces or collages, with lots of emphasis on machine embroidery and different techniques and effects. Learn how to use a soldering tool to create original stencils.
Session 5 Friday 5th June.
“Finishing it off”
Add the finishing touches to your piece of artwork and look at ways to display, stretch, frame or hang, ready to exhibit in the Harwich Festival of Arts. (If you want to)!!!

About your Tutor
Bev is joint owner of Old bank Studios along with husband Nigel and runs the separate textile studio which is fully equipped with high end sewing machines. This is what she says:
My background is in interior design and soft furnishing, for which I hold the highest level OCN and City & Guilds and am qualified to teach in adult education.
I am also a keen painter and over the years have enjoyed mixing it all up and exploring machine embroidery with mixed media.
I never stop experimenting and am privileged to have access to an endless source of materials and so many other talented artists and tutors
What you will need to bring
Sewing machine with a free motion darning foot (Use one one our top end machines by prior arrangement).
Your usual sewing kit
There will the use of all my resources at £5.00 a session.
