imagesAimed specifically at beginners, this short, 6 week course with Lavinia Hamer,  is the perfect introduction to basic drawing and watercolour painting. Each clearly defined weekly session will take you step by step through the essential skills required to produce competent scenes and landscapes.

Week One – Materials and techniques, simple composition.

Week Two – Understanding colour – Colourful composition

Week Three – Wet into wet watercolour – landscapes and skies

Week Four – Trees and foliage – colour and texture in a landscape

Week Five – Specialist techniques

Week Six – Composition and design

A full course description and material list will be supplied on booking. Most equipment is available to use at the studio, however you will want to buy materials such as paper, paint and pencils (possibly through Old Bank Studios, please give us a call for more information).

About the Tutor:

Lavinia Hamer works principally in Watercolour and Pen and Wash with a strong interest in natural subjects. She began her art training at Falmouth School of Art and took her degree and post-graduate at Chelsea School of Art. Following this she completed a post-graduate year in Holland. As well as exhibiting regularly Lavinia teaches Art courses, demonstrates and runs painting holidays. She has illustrated a number of books and contributed to Art magazines. She has also worked in stained glass. Currently Lavinia works mainly in East Anglia, but maintains strong links with Cornwall where she also works part of the time.
