Two Day Course
Saturday 23rd and Sunday 24th October
All Materials Included
Over the course of this exciting weekend you will be introduced to 2 techniques.
The first project is designing and creating a mixed media mosaic on a round dinner plate format to create a wall hanging piece. Pieces of upcycled crockery, tiles and other found pieces can be used to produce something truly unique.
The second project introduces you to the reverse method to create your a small, personalised, simple house number plaque.
At the end of the 2 days, the plate will be completed, and the house number will need to dry and may require some grouting on turning out of the mould.
Includes homemade lunch and refreshments both days
About the Tutor
I am an artist working on commissions related to specific places and communities. I have specialisms in ceramics and mixed-media mosaics, bringing different elements together to communicate significant messages.
Past work has included mosaics and murals for public places, installations in parks and gardens and communities working together to create artworks in their own space.
The process can be a significant contribution to the well-being and confidence of the participants.
I have a wide experience of teaching all ages, a full teaching qualification and DBS certificate.
My current investigations involve creating open ceramic heads, I am fascinated by the way the forms of the biology inside us relate to forms in the natural world. Some of these pieces re-introduce mosaic fragments, like memories or the experiences we carry with us.
