Join Jake in person for an absolute treat of a watercolour class. During the day you will gain invaluable insights into the uses of watercolour and complete two paintings.

Jake will encourage you to trace the images from his reference all of which are supplied, this allows you to concentrate on the alchemy of the medium, learning about how colours react to depict luminosity. You will also pick up tips and shortcuts from a very established painter and tutor, including working wet on wet and saturation.

About the Artist

Jake exhibits widely in the South of England and in 2004 was a finalist in the Daily Mail’s ‘ Not the Turner Prize’ competition. In 2007 his work was selected for the Royal Society of British Artists exhibition in London.

He has twice been winner of category and best in show at Marwell International Wildlife Art Society’s annual exhibition and in 2009 was awarded the prestigious St Cuthberts Mill award for best watercolour at the Society of Equestrian Artists exhibition at The Mall Galleries, London.

Jake has undertaken many fine art commissions for individuals and notable organisations including the National Trust.

As well as contributing to art magazines, Jake has also had books and instructional DVDs published.

What you will need to bring

Your usual watercolour kit
Masking Fluid
Watercolour paper – a good quality heavy weight, rough paper (Jake uses Arches 140lb rough, available to buy on the day)
As wide a range of artist quality tube colours as you can manage
